The Living Room may seem like an odd name for an eating and drinking establishment, but it’s an accurate description of the new wine café that just opened in Chandler’s Ocotillo neighborhood. Comfortable sofas and chairs are scattered throughout the space, along with coffee tables, end tables, area rugs, lamps and plants. Board games are stacked in cupboards. A stereo is playing. Sitting with a group of friends at The Living Room really is like sitting with a group of friends in a living room. Unless you’re sitting on one of The Living Room’s cozy patios, in which case it’s like … well, you get the idea. And that’s the concept of a wine café — a more casual, more affordable, more approachable version of a wine bar. Think wine bar meets neighborhood pub. Or wine bar meets your living room. The Living Room, which opened Dec. 30 in a shopping development known as Downtown Ocotillo, is the brainchild of the same group behind Scottsdale’s Humble Pie pizzeria and just-opened 5th & Wine. A small Italian menu offers a selection of nosh-able treats perfect for pairing with a glass of vino.
